Resumen

Los monumentos funerarios son una de las expresiones artísticas más importantes en la historia, pues es inherente al ser humano la preocupación por la muerte y lo que ello conlleva. Este capítulo lo dedicaremos, por tanto, a la investigación referente a la sepultura matrimonial, recurriendo a diversas obras artísticas seleccionadas como fuente para el estudio de nuestro patrimonio histórico. Por tanto, a partir de los análisis intrínsecos y globales de los patrones de representación de los finados, posiciones y actitudes, atributos e indumentarias o programas iconográficos, entre otros, pretendemos dar respuesta a nuestro principal interrogante: ¿existe una clara distribución jerárquica entre las imágenes femeninas y masculinas que componen estos monumentos, o por el contrario mantienen el mismo protagonismo?

Funerary monuments are one of the most important artistic expressions in history, since concern about death and what it entails is inherent to human beings. This chapter is therefore dedicated to research into the burial of couples, using various artistic works selected as a source for the study of our historical heritage. Therefore, based on intrinsic and global analyses of the patterns of representation of the deceased, positions and attitudes, attributes and clothing or iconographic programmes, among others, we intend to answer our main question: is there a clear hierarchical distribution between the female and male images that make up these monuments, or on the contrary do they maintain the same protagonism?
