La emigración judía en la Argentina y la esperanza del Arte Hebreo: siglos XIX y XX / The jewish immigration in Argentina and the hope of the Hebrew Art: centuries XIX and XX

Resumen

El trabajo pretende explicar el modo en que surge la importante colonia judía en la Argentina como fruto de la emigración y del proyecto de asentamiento agrícola. Se trata de una comunidad cuya identidad se redefine a la par que la del país durante el siglo XX, dejándose influir por las circunstancias sociales, políticas y culturales nacionales o extranjeras. Estas circunstancias, que determinan la configuración temática en su expresión artística, permiten la producción de un arte puramente hebreo sin dejar de ser esencialmente argentino. Los artistas, mujeres en su mayoría, se forman en los diversos lenguajes internacionales accediendo a los circuitos del arte latinoamericano, israelí, europeo y norteamericano, sin ningún tipo de complejo cultural.

This paper aims to explain the way in which the important Jewish colony in Argentina arose as a result of emigration and the project of agricultural settlement. It is a community, whose identity is redefined at the same time as the country during the twentieth century, allowing itself to be influenced by national or foreign social, political and cultural circumstances. These circumstances, which determine the thematic configuration in artistic expression, allow the production of a purely Hebrew art without ceasing to be essentially Argentine. The artists, mostly women, are trained in the different international artistic languages accessing circuits of Latin American, Israeli, European and North American art, without any kind of cultural complex.
